Dominate Farmville Review

Dominate Farmville3andahalf

This guide excels at visual presentation but falls a little short in the actual gameplay information that it delivers.  Your eyes will be delighted by the most professional looking, colorful and accessible charts that you’ve ever seen in a Farmville guide.  The information, however, will leave you a little underwhelmed.  There’s plenty of tips for the beginner, but they’ll seem fairly obvious if you’ve ever opened a Farmville account before.  Possibly the most useful item is the 7 Steps to Leveling Quickly point form chart.

What You Get

  • Discussion of most major points of the game, but rather less on mechanics and specifics
  • Expansion guide
  • Quick leveling plan
  • Dead file link?

The Good News

This guide lays out the game for beginners and gently points out ideas to intermediate players as well.  In the 7 Steps to Leveling Quickly section, the author has gathered together some of the most common “secrets” and techniques that other guides mention in hushed and reverent tones.  The visual presentation of the information is high-quality, professional work with many graphics and screenshots.

The Bad News

It’s wordy.  The table of contents uses sentences instead of short punchy descriptions to help you find what you need.  And when you get there, it’s more of the same.  Bullet-points and quick bites of information would be far more readable.  The charts help clean things up a bit, but often information gets buried in the sheer wordiness of a sentence.  The expansion guide and so-called “Bonus Quick Leveling Plan” are total fluff.  The information is easily found elsewhere and it is not necessary for successful gameplay.  The guide also needs a serious update; although, that’s understandable with Zynga’s robust update schedule.

It’s a mid-level guide with high quality graphics.  If you’re a visual learner, this may be your most appealing option.
