The Good News

In the 50 pages that are provided, you get a fair bit of bang for your buck. The author has either researched or played Farmville for a significant amount of time. A particularly valuable feature is the division of sections into categories based on the players’ amount of experience with the game (e.g. “If you’ve never played”, “Fast leveling”, “If you’ve played for a while”).

This guide also examines many of the small, fun details about Farmville such as Ribbons and how to decorate and design your farm. The information is always specific and clear—the grammar is bad, but not so bad as to leave you wondering what the sentence means. I found the use of pictures very helpful in explaining screenshots and laying out your farm.

The Bad News

Where this guide falls down is on readability. Once again, the author is someone who does not speak English as his/her native language. This is a rather grating note in an otherwise decent guide. For example, the first page of the guide is only 8 sentences long. There are at least 6 errors in them, if not more. It seemed very out of place in comparison to the excellence of the information provided.

Additionally, this guide needs to be updated. It does not have the latest changes in regards to special crops, Dairy Barns and Chicken Coops, Garden Sheds, new Lost Animals, etc.

My conclusion is that you could do a lot worse when buying a Farmville strategy guide.
