Farmville Trees
Special Update – Holiday Trees!
Farmville recently added holiday trees and presents. There are 5 colors of present: blue, pink, green, red and brown. The presents all say to wait until December 24th to open. Nobody knows what is inside.
For every 20 presents you add under your holiday tree, the tree gets bigger and adds decorations. You can put up to 100 presents under your tree to make it look really awesome!
Trees as Crops
There are three different kinds of crops in Farmville: animals, trees, and regular crops which you must plant. This article deals just with trees—if you’re interested in learning more about the other two crops (and ways to make lots of coins), head on over there!
Trees are an ideal crop in that they never rot like the seed crops. You place a tree on your property, it will mature, and you can harvest it whenever you feel like it. They are highly decorative and are a nice way to liven up your farm. The only drawbacks to trees are that they are a poor return if you buy them yourself. Each harvest may only sell for 20-80 coins whereas the tree itself will cost you 400 coins! Try to wait for friends to gift them to you; if people aren’t, put a signpost on your farm asking for specific trees that are available through the free gift system.
Also keep in mind that trees take several days to mature. They are NOT a quick money maker.
Here’s a chart to help you select which trees you might want to display on your farm:
| Tree | Cost | Available as Gift | Frequency of Harvest | Worth (coins) |
| Acai | 27 Farm Cash | no | Every 2 days | 158 |

Farmville Holiday Tree
For the Autumn/Thanksgiving event, there are also Maple Trees: Yellow, Red, and plain. For the Christmas holiday, they introduced Christmas trees. Expect to see new additions with each event or season.
When you’re choosing your trees, take a moment to consider your Farmville goals. Are you playing this game to see just how many coins you can make in as short a time as possible? If so, don’t bother with trees. Plant berries instead and watch your account balance shoot through the roof. But if you’re looking to use them for decorative purposes and you don’t mind waiting for a crop to ripen, they’re an excellent option. Farmers who leave the game for extended periods of time and then come back to it (e.g. a couple days or weeks) will also enjoy trees and animals. Both trees and animals can wait to be harvested—seed crops can’t. Plan accordingly and you’ll never have to clear a field of withered plants (a time consuming and terribly boring way to spend an evening)!
