How to Play Farmville

Farmville SecretsThe mechanics of playing Farmville are pretty simple once you’ve played for a while, but to the newcomer, they can be confusing.

The Big 6: Buttons in the Lower Right of Your Screen

The Multi-Tool

The multi-tool button is by far the most useful and you will generally want to have your cursor set to this.  To set your cursor to the multi-tool, click on the first button, the one that looks like a regular mouse cursor.  This will then transform into whatever you will generally need.  If you mouse over a regular crop, it’s a harvesting tool.  If you mouse over fallow ground it becomes the plow tool.

The Plow Tool

The plow tool is the second button on the top row, the one shaped like a green hoe.  You will use it to create new fields and plow fallow ground to get it ready to plant.

The Shovel =Delete Tool

Be very careful that you don’t start clicking around when your cursor is changed to this!  You will begin to delete items around your farm—whatever you click on will bring up this message “ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO DELETE “(item’s name)”?”  Click

The Market

Look at the lower right part of your screen.  You will see a button with a tomato and pepper on it marked MARKET.  Click on it and it will take you to the Market where you do all your buying.  The Market is set up with pictures of the seeds that you want to buy and a price underneath.  It will also tell you how much xp an item gives you and how much the harvest from one square of ground will be.  Each square of dirt take 1 unit of seeds, the price that you see in the Market.  Items marked LOCKED are unavailable to you at this time because of your level.  As you level up, you will unlock more of them

The Market has tabs for Seeds, Trees, Animals, Buildings, Decorations, Expand Farm, and Vehicles.  Take a look through them and see some of the things that you may want to buy.  By far you’ll spend the most time browsing through the seed catalog to figure out what you want to plant.

Ribbons

See the button with the blue ribbon?  That’s your Ribbons section which keeps track of all your accomplishments.  If you’d like to see what you need in order to earn the next color of ribbon for an achievement or just feel good about your accomplishments, scroll through and take a look. :)

Buttons at the Top of the Screen

At the far top left of the screen, you will see three brown buttons stacked on top of each other.  When you mouse over them, they will display a message to tell you what they control:

Eye: toggles graphic quality

Speaker: turns sound on and off

Musical Note: Turns music on and off

Next, if you continue to your right, you will notice a green button with a stack of gold coins next to it.  This is the amount of Farm Coins you have.  It will fluctuate with your purchases and harvests.

Below it is a blue button with a plus symbol, reading “ADD COINS & CASH”.  Don’t click on this.  It takes you to a page where you can buy Farm Coins and Cash with real money.

And speaking of Farm Cash, the blue button further right tells you how much Farm Cash you have.  You will receive one Farm Cash every level you attain.

In the middle of your upper screen is your experience bar, blue with a star attached to it.  It will fill up with experience as you earn it through various farming activities.

The small brown button with the speech bubble in it will allow you to leave a note in the middle of your farm for other people.  It’s a good way to leave requests or thank yous.

Finally, at the far right of your screen is your farm’s name.  It should say (your name)’s Farm.  Currently there is no option to change the name of your farm.

These are the basic buttons that you will use on the farm.  Enjoy!
